This shows the workings of winding up of a spring, whereby energy is stored in the spring that is later used to activate a mechanism. A replacement coil spring is currently required, but this is a superb interactive exhibit. The animated gadgetry is that of a cat's claw chasing a mouse. During the winding up of the spring the mechanism will stand still, then the cat's claw will chase the mouse when activated. The original exhibit cost in the region of £ 10,200 (excluding
computer software). |
