As each exhibit is visited, the iButton is simply tapped against the green-flashing sensor and the computer or exhibit greets the visitor by name. Over time the system learns the visitor's individual preferences so that it can provide personalised suggestions on which of the exhibits the visitor may like to visit next. To use this feature the visitor simply clicks on the 'Centre' button on any computer screen. The system also tracks the visitor's activities and achievements throughout the visit and a certificate of achievement from the printer at reception is given out upon leaving. Each iButton key has a unique serial number. If the visitor chooses to keep the key as a souvenir, he or she can bring this back at any time in the future and the computer system will automatically remember who the visitor is. The visitor can also use the unique serial number as a 'key' to the Centre web site from their home computer.
